From Capable to Positioned™
Getting everything right got you trusted with more. Your self-image decides whether you are positioned, promoted and paid for the level you already work at or for the next move you actually want.
Without working harder, waiting to feel ready or becoming someone you are not.

Capable is not the same as Positioned
You are the one people rely on. You get it right, you deliver, you take on the difficult work and you never miss a deadline. Yet the title, the pay and the recognition still sit a level below what you are already doing.
It rarely looks dramatic. It looks like this:
You keep adding to your remit, with bigger teams and more responsibility, yet the pay and title never quite catch up.
You prove your worth by doing more than everyone else, staying later and never letting anything drop.
You negotiate hard for your team and accept the first number offered to you.
You wait to be noticed rather than ask, since asking for yourself still feels like too much.
You have stepped away from a big role and the obvious option keeps pulling you back towards the same kind of job.
Each moment feels small, yet the cost compounds. A role you do not go for sets the salary for the next one. The extra you take on comes out of your evenings, your weekends and eventually your well-being. You have spent years proving your worth when what was needed was positioning it.
You cannot outperform your self-image
The identity that produced your current level of success is the same identity that caps it.
Why It Happens
For many capable women it is the good girl identity: work hard, get it right, do more than is asked, never make a fuss and never ask for too much for yourself. That identity earned the trust, the responsibility and the career.
It is also what keeps you over-delivering and under-positioned. You kept growing, building a reputation and a track record, while the picture of yourself never got the update. The gap between who you have become and how you still see yourself is what I call identity lag.
Identity lag is why the usual fixes rarely hold. You tell yourself you need more confidence, a better plan, more experience or to work harder. Each of those is half right, yet each is attempted from inside the old self-image, which is still the part making the decisions. Confidence is what you feel once the gap closes rather than the way to close it.
“You do not rise to your potential. You rise to the level of identity you are able to hold.”
What we will work through together
This is a working session, so have your workbook open and expect to write throughout.
1. Get clear on what you actually want. A guided exercise to meet the version of you who already has it: how she works, what she says yes to and what she no longer tolerates. We start with what you would choose if anything were possible rather than the sensible version.
2. Find the rule that has been deciding for you. The unwritten rules about what someone like you gets to ask for, earn and be known for, and which of them are actually true.
3. Build the capacity to hold more. Whether you could comfortably hold the bigger role, the bigger number and the visibility if they arrived tomorrow, and what needs to expand first.
4. Stop drifting back to your usual level. Why you get close to what you want and then return to what feels normal, and how that set point actually moves.
5. Leave with your first identity reps. Small, specific actions for the next seven days, such as making your point first at Thursday’s meeting or stating your fee without filling the silence.
You will leave with
A clear view of the gap between your capability and how you are currently positioned
The specific rule that has been quietly making your decisions
Your first identity rep, with the exact day and moment you will do it
The workbook to keep working from after the session
For live attendees only: a limited number of complimentary one-hour Identity Clarity Calls with Nadia to look at what surfaced in your own work, pay and time.
This masterclass is for you if:
You are operating above your level while your title, pay or influence has not caught up.
You earned your place by getting everything right and doing more than everyone else, yet it has stopped paying off.
You advocate brilliantly for your team and go quiet when it comes to yourself.
You have stepped away from a demanding role, or are close to it, and want your next move to be on your terms.
You work in financial services, law, professional services, communications or another environment where visibility is political, or you run your own business and see the same pattern in what you charge.
You are ready to act on what you see within the week rather than just understand it.
It is not for you if:
You are looking for a motivational talk to listen to in the background.
You want tips on confidence or presentation skills. This works one level underneath those.
Where they started and what changed
-
From “I’m not good enough” to a £10k-better opportunity
Alison says coaching helped her transform her mindset, release self-doubt, feel like a genuine asset, and secure an amazing new opportunity with a £10k increase.
-
From playing small to starting a new business
Sumeena describes becoming clearer, more confident and more present in her relationships while also starting a new business and reigniting momentum in her existing one.
-
From unfulfilled in academia to over £101k income and meaningful impact
After feeling stuck and underfulfilled in AI research, AM used coaching to build a compelling future, leave academia, and move into a faster-moving, more rewarding role, increasing income from £30k to over £101k.
Why I teach this
I spent ten years in financial advice at HSBC, Halifax and Nationwide, then the last decade working with capable women on promotions, pay rises, board roles and businesses of their own.
This work started with me. In my first job after university, in advertising sales, my manager offered me a more senior role with five to ten thousand pounds more. I said no. I wanted it, yet being seen in that role threatened the story I had already decided about myself. That one decision set the salary I started on in my next career, which is how identity lag compounds.
70% of the women I work with secure a promotion or significant career move within three months. I see the same pattern in corporate roles and in women running their own businesses. I first delivered this masterclass for Women in PR at Finn Partners in October 2026.
-
Yes. At the end I will offer a small number of complimentary Identity Clarity Calls to women who attended live and want to look at this in their own situation. There is no obligation.
-
Yes, for women who attend live. The replay goes only to those who join on the day, since the exercises and live coaching are where the shift happens. Put the hour in your diary as a meeting with yourself.
-
Think about what another year at your current level costs: another pay review at the old number, another round of taking on more and another set of evenings spent proving what is already obvious. You will leave knowing the pattern that has been holding you in place and your first move against it.
-
Yes, and it may be the most useful moment to do it. When you are deciding your next move, the old self-image quietly sets the limits on what you let yourself want, which is how capable women end up back in the kind of role they left.
-
Not on its own. Anyone who promises that in an hour is guessing. What it will do is start with what you genuinely want and show you what has been deciding for you, which is what makes the next move clearer.
-
No. Confidence is the outcome of this work rather than the mechanism. We work on the self-image underneath it, which decides what you go for, what you ask for and what you accept.
-
Find somewhere you can write without being interrupted and have the workbook to hand. It arrives by email the day before.
-
Only if you choose to. Most of the writing is just for you.
Your capability was never the question. Your positioning is what this hour changes.
